SOIL TESTING MLSN SYDNEY/CANBERRA POA/ BENTGRASS
The spread sheet below is only works with Mehlich 3 test results. It is only valid for bentgrass with a soil pH between 5.5-8.5.
The spreadsheet is based on work carried out Micah Woods, Ph.D.; Larry Stowell, Ph.D.; and Wendy Gelernter, Ph.D. on the minimum levels for sustainable nutrition (MLSN) as an alternative to conventional soil nutrient guidelines.
The aim is to apply just what the grass requires.
Advantages of this approach
1. Best grass possible.
2. Just what is the plant needs.
3. It saves money
4. This approach avoids the application of products that you don’t need.
5. Reduces environmental impact
6. Increases sustainability
To use this calculator, simply fill in the table below with your soil test results and the amount of N you want to apply a year. Negative readings mean you don’t need to apply any of that particular nutrient.
